What comes to mind when you think of the Subaru Crosstrek? It's always been for traits such as its rugged capability, versatility and an adventurous spirit. Well, all of the Crosstrek's appealing qualities were on display at the SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Subaru partnered with the Grabowski brothers and Crawford racing to debut the Crosstrek as a powered desert racer in the 49th running of the historic event. The Crosstrek, which was driven by Dusty and Parker Grabowski, utilized a Subaru BOXER engine with an assist from race car builder Quirt Crawford.

The highly-modified Crosstrek qualified as a Class 5 race car and proved up to the task when navigating one of the world's most legendary and challenging desert race events. The Crosstrek's admission to the event proves that Subaru's off-road capability isn't limited to rally and rally cross. While the Grabowski brothers failed to finish the race, the nearly unrecognizable Crosstrek showcased Subaru's legendary off-road ability in the famed Baja 500.

We can't wait to see what comes next from Subaru in the racing department. If you'd like to check out a conventional Crosstrek, pay us a visit at Peninsula Subaru in Bremerton, WA to get going on a test drive today!
