Should I Buy or Lease My New Subaru?

So, one of our many new Subaru models has caught your eye, and you want to drive it home. It might be a Subaru Forester, Subaru Ascent, or Subaru Legacy... all you know is you that it's the perfect Subaru for you. Unfortunately, our Subaru vehicles aren't free, so you'll have to decide on your ideal payment plan. Trying to decide if you should buy or lease your next model? Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of each option.

Buying:
  • Pay for the full value of the Subaru
  • Once your loan is paid off, the Subaru is fully yours
  • Drive your Subaru as much as you want, even before it's paid off
  • Customize your Subaru to suit your lifestyle
Leasing:
  • You set the length of the lease at the dealership (usually two or three years)
  • Pay for the vehicle's projected value depreciation over the course of your lease
  • Lower down payment and lower monthly payments than buying
  • You have a yearly mile limit, and you get charged extra for each mile you drive over the limit
  • Once your lease is up, you return your Subaru to the dealership, then you can either lease another Subaru, buy a new one, or just walk away
